Senior Project Engineer – Treatment and Pumping Stations

Salary up to £42,000 pa plus Company Car/Allowance
Overview:
Our client is a water utility and part of one of the largest and most successful water services groups in the world. Over the next 5 years £32m will be invested to improves services to it’s thousands of customers. Key projects include the delivery of new strategic pumping stations and treatment facilities in addition to major refurbishments of existing sites.
The Role:
The Senior Project Engineer will assist in the delivery of the Capital Expenditure Programme and will lead the Company’s internal project delivery capability.
This challenging role offers an opportunity to influence the Company’s performance and future development.
Duties:
Successfully deliver capital projects assigned by Capital Delivery Manager; as measured by time and cost against approved budgets, delivery date and by operational acceptance.
Lead projects from initial concept, through design development to tender, contract award, execution, commissioning and handover, taking responsibility for gaining stakeholder and financial approval at appropriate stages
Provide accurate and reliable monthly project updates for assigned projects including progress reporting.
Co-ordinate, provide, review and approve technical inputs to other projects and project managers regarding non-infrastructure scope and specification, to budget and programme.
Successfully execute contracts where nominated as the contract manager, including timely resolution of variation/compensation events.
Line manage internal staff and temporary staff where necessary, providing technical and project management leadership and support their development.
Co-ordinate and communicate effectively within the department, across other departments and to the Senior Management Team on project and technical issues.
Approve Capex Expenditure as per delegated authority for Projects.
Approve technical standards, subject to Senior Management Team.
Approve non-infrastructure designs inline with approved Company standards
Manage and supervise contractors and consultants working.
Represent the Company in discussions and negotiations with third parties stakeholders.
Experience:
You must be able to demonstrate significant experience in a similar role within the Water Industry, and hold professional membership to Chartered Level with a relevant technical body and a qualification to Degree level or equivalent.
You must be able to demonstrate a successful track record of project management of similar capital projects and the ability to lead and shape treatment and pumping station designs and specification. The design of hydraulic systems and pump selection is essential.
Significant contract administration and management experience on capital projects.
Ability to liaise and manager wide range of external project stakeholders and logistical requirements
You should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude, strong organisational skills and have the ability to constructively challenge others.
