Position: Senior Planner
Location: Yorkshire Water Region
Salary Guide: £50,000 – £65,000 (DOE) Plus Car Allowance and Excellent Benefits
Our client is a Tier 1 D&B Contractor operating predominately in the water industry, who are delivering a number of water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects for Yorkshire Water and they are recruiting for a Senior Planner to successfully deliver the project portfolio throughout the Southern Yorkshire region.
Role overview:
- Create, maintain, review and administer multiple integrated design and construct manufacturing programmes for projects delivered under the Yorkshire Water Framework.
- Work closely with and guide project teams and suppliers to ensure all activities, logic, risks, internal and external constraints etc are identified when creating programmes.
- Provide accurate and consistent progress information to the client.
- Analyse programmes to proactively identify time risks and opportunities.
- Work with the Programme Assurance Manager and other subject experts to formulate a detailed and timed Programme Delivery Plan incorporating the clients and Yorkshire Water’s specific requirements. The plan will be regularly updated and will provide the basis for performance monitoring.
- Assimilate the project brief, associated documents and specifications and request any additional information to improve programme accuracy.
- Work with design and construct teams to develop production methodologies, work sequences and pre-contract and contract programmes.
- Arrange and facilitate collaborative planning sessions with appropriate stakeholders throughout project development stages.
- Arrange and facilitate programme validation workshops to ensure programme accuracy, logic, clear critical path identification, adequate and appropriately placed time risk allowances, etc.
- Update project progress working directly with project teams and suppliers. This will involve virtual and actual site and pre-assembly works visits to verify progress.
- When appropriate integrate the programme with digital model so that projects can be built virtually to increase stakeholder understanding and improve safety, logic, efficiency, accuracy.
- Identify and assess programme risks and work with project teams to produce mitigation plans. Identify alternative methodologies/sequences that reduces delivery risks.
- Monitor and capture actual output and productivity performance data and use this to continually improve project team performance programme accuracy/reliability.
Skills/Experience Required:
- Previous planning and/or project delivery theoretical and practical experience
- You must be proficient using planning software including resource management functions
- Experience using MPP Microsoft Project and Primavera P6 and linking programmes to digital models is desirable but not essential
- Experience applying Lean techniques and leading collaborative planning meetings desirable
- Knowledgeable in the application of technology in engineering practice
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills
- Knowledge of the Health and Safety Requirements within the industry to assist in the preparation of Construction Programmes
- Knowledge of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), Lean Construction, Agile Programme Management, Production Thinking and other techniques that will assure programme and quality performance in a modern manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication and engagement skills – ability to bring the whole team on the MMC journey including the client and our supply chain
- Professional qualification in a construction/manufacturing related subject is desirable
