Position: Electrical Technician – Maintenance
Location: Cambridge
Rate: £20.00 PAYE per hour or £24.00 Ltd Co per hour dependent upon IR35 determination
Duration: 3 months +
Hours: 40 hours per week
Duties: You will be responsible for the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance programs as per the Client requirements. You will carry out work as per schedule supplied by the Services Manager and as per site policies, schedules and procedures.
Troubleshoot problems with equipment as necessary, and as directed by site supervisors
Complete site documentation before and after work tasks, as appropriate.
Liaise with subcontractors during planned service maintenance.
Carry out risk assessment of equipment maintenance task list steps and ensure these are always kept valid.
Update maintenance task list as appropriate.
Carry out periodic reviews of EWI/SOP to ensure documents are always current and valid.
Be responsible for personal training and ensure missing requirements are completed.
Participate in audits of the mechanical and electrical plant rooms and follow up on actions
Drive local reviews of maintenance performance data using published maintenance excellence KPI results
Areas to be reviewed and improvements sought are: spares cost, high levels of paperwork, PM:CM ratio, maintenance man-hours per equipment/system, MTBF, MTTR
PM program content is to be reviewed on a regular basis to remove non-value added activities and duplication.
Ensure that the CMMS system contains the most up to date information regarding equipment data, spares and maintenance man-hours.
Maximise maintenance wrench time utilisation through effective planning.
Undertake reactive and planned works to all electrical systems including installation, minor works, fault finding and repairs.
Complete NICEIC Certificates to BS7671 standards
Supervising & monitoring of sub-contractors works whilst they are on site undertaking maintenance
Ensure that plant faults & defects are remedied in a timely manner.
Ensure breakdown data logging system is kept up to date, and that planned and reactive tasks are closed out with accurate data captured.
Carry out basic fabric maintenance as and when required.
Act as Authorised Person (AP) for the site
Authorise safe electrical isolations and permits
Experience: Previous experience in working as an electrical technician with a good understanding of the basic fundamentals of the various utility systems and preventive maintenance systems.
Have a qualification from senior trades, City & Guilds or equivalent in electrical engineering
Previous building management systems (BMS) and permit to work system experience and have worked within a Computerized Maintenance Management Work Order (CMMS) system environment.
Previous experience in pumps, HVAC systems, compressors, boilers, steam systems and ancillary services, (DHW skids), chillers, cooling towers, clean steam boilers, purified water systems, CIP systems and/or general canteen/kitchen equipment.
Understanding of SOP’s & GMP engineering systems, basic instrumentation and the ability to read and understand P&ID’s/electrical drawings are essential for you to be successful in this role.
You will have the flexibility to work around maintenance shutdowns and will be familiar with all GMP rules, regulations and statutory requirements
Excellent understanding of preventive maintenance systems and a good understanding of SOPs and GMP Engineering systems.
