Position: Plant Operator/Maintenance Engineer – Water

Location: Cockermouth

Salary/Rate Guide: £400 per day Ltd Company (outside IR35)

Duration: 3 months +

The Site: A new water treatment works forming part of the £300m West Cumbria Water Supplies project

You will report directly to the Commissioning Manager and the responsibilities and duties will include

  • Ensure final effluent is not compromised and operate in accordance with the site operating plan.
  • Completion of frontline maintenance tasks to time and an acceptable standard.
  • Defective Maintenance Tasks – Unblocking pumps, screens and valves to ensure continuous plant operation.
  • Work within company guidelines, including incident avoidance plans in order to minimise business risk
  • Fault finding and problem-solving skills are essential to respond to breakdowns.
  • Front line maintenance, fault finding, housekeeping and the operation of plant installed associated with water/wastewater processes.
  • Monitoring and reporting of data to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance is met at all times
  • Assisting with planned SCO activities
  • Planning O&M activities
  • Preparing RAMS (approval by site managers)
  • Preparing task sheets
  • Uploading completed sheets to Sharepoint
  • Receive shadow training on new/unfamiliar equipment
  • Liaise with site commissioning engineer for any additional tasks
  • Liaise with process commissioning support regards sampling

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Knowledge of water/wastewater processes would be advantageous.
  • Maintenance or operating background and experience of fixed and mobile plant would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of relevant treatment processes would be advantageous
  • Maintenance or operating background and experience of fixed and mobile plant would be beneficial.
  • A driving licence is essential for travel to sites

Due to the nature of this role, you will be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions and also be prepared to work within the company’s rota of a 7day working week and participate on a standby rota.
