Business Development/Sales Manager – Turnkey Contracts
Location: Home based in the north of England, with travel across the UK
Salary Package: £50-55k

Our Client: Is a specialist designer, installer & operator of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant, delivering energy efficiency to a wide range of applications including district heating, and as such is committed to extensive, long-term energy savings and the use of socially responsible and low carbon forms of energy.
The aim is to ensure that their customers can meet their energy business needs sustainably.
They are one of the UK’s leading providers of CHP with over 600 installations on customer sites.
They deliver energy management services to meet the energy challenges faced by their customers across industry and the public sector, from industrial manufacturing to hospitals, educational facilities to district heating networks.
Our client offers the latest high efficiency CHP technology to provide cost effective environmental solutions for on-site electricity, heating and cooling generation.
Services include feasibility studies, conceptual design, a comprehensive advice service, project funding, project management and operations and maintenance.
The Role: A proactive and ambitious individual with an excellent understanding of large turnkey engineering or construction projects.
The successful candidate will play an integral part in developing and securing new business through profitable growth.
You will be responsible for selling turnkey CHP solutions in response to enquiries from customers.
Typical projects values are £1-8m
Day to day responsibilities:
Respond to initial sales and technical enquiries from external customers.
Meet potential customers and conduct site surveys with design engineers to define the scope of works.
Manage the bid process including scope of works, design, costs, writing the quote and presentation of the quote to the client.
Produce feasibility reports and manage budgets and proposals as and when required.
Negotiate various Forms of Contract with a thorough understanding of all commercial, technical, operational and financial requirements required as part of negotiations.
Financial responsibilities: able to raise proposals based on the published price list.
Produce maintenance offers using specific sales tools.
Maintain records within the Sales files.
Essential: Strong engineering background and previous experience in managing the preparation of proposals and bids for large projects, opportunities and tenders in a sales environment.
Proven communication and interpersonal skills (face to face, verbal and written).
The ability to demonstrate strong business acumen including a thorough understanding of Commercial Terms and Conditions as well as a thorough understanding of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
Ability to focus on individual objectives and goals while also working as a part of the team.
Have a positive impact by handling all enquiries promptly.
A full valid driving license is essential.
Desirable: Commercial and technical knowledge of the Combined Heat and Power industry is desirable.
Candidates with experience in other engineering sectors would also be considered.
The role involves substantial travel across the UK.
