The Role: Our Client is looking to strengthen their Procurement team with a Buyer. This role sits within the central procurement team providing support to their projects throughout the UK. In addition to direct project related procurement there will be a small element of indirect category procurement such as IT, travel, and consumables.
Responsibilities: You will report directly to the Head of Procurement.
Prepare and issue Requests for Quotations (RFQ)
Negotiate commercial terms, conditions, and levels of service (including KPI’s) with suppliers
Prepare and issue purchase orders with correct terms and conditions and optimum commercial terms
Identify, develop, implement, and manage Regional and National Framework Agreements for the supply or hire of goods/services. The on-going management of these Agreements is a key element to this role
Prepare, develop, and monitor Project and Regional level Procurement Plans
Assist with the development and implementation of standard subcontract documentation, including tender and/or contract enquiry letters, scope, subcontract templates, pre-award meeting agendas etc.
Assessment and approval of suppliers
Various monitoring and reporting requirements for various stakeholders
Maintain and enhance IFS database and other software and processes
Assist to resolve any queries raised by the Supply Chain, including invoice queries
Develop and maintain close working relationship with all key stakeholders
Assist with the checking of supplier insurances and maintaining supplier records.
Input to departmental procurement procedures where required
Take part in internal and external audits where required
Skills/Experience: Experience in a procurement role within Construction or Utilities
Demonstrable evidence of category/framework management for either materials or plant.
Strong character comfortable challenging supply chain and colleagues at all levels in the business
Always carry out purchasing duties in-line with the CIPS Ethical Policy
