Senior Electrical Design Engineer
Position: Senior/Lead Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Bristol or Plymouth
Salary: £50-55k (negotiable DOE), car/allowance and excellent benefits package
Our Client: Is one of the UK’s leading principal contractors with a multi-billion pound order book. Successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects.
The Role: Reporting to the Regional Design Manager, you will be responsible for the production and coordination of outline and detailed Design Deliverables on combined Process, Mechanical and Electrical schemes, predominately in the water industry and providing an overall design package to the Project Manager.
Responsibilities: Ascertain Client requirements either through reference to their specification documents and through visiting sites with their nominated personnel
Ability to determine actual operational requirements and propose appropriate solutions
Work alongside the Design Manager/Senior Designer (team lead) and where applicable the Project Manager to ensure scheme designs are value engineered and adhere to client specifications whilst retaining appropriate levels of operational security and full compliance with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
Promote innovation and challenge parties involved to ensure cost effectiveness in all design activities
Provide outline and detailed engineering from inception to completion of schemes utilising design partners, individual knowledge, site installation and construction personnel
Ensure all design work is completed to agreed programmes, financial budgets and KPI’s
Liaison with client’s engineering staff or where applicable their design consultants to ensure designs are approved in accordance with the timescales stipulated within the contract
Attend internal and external design reviews and where applicable progress meetings
Lead and promote innovation, challenging clients, design partners and the supply chain to ensure cost effectiveness in both design solutions and design activities
Manage, mentor and develop the Design Engineers in conjunction with the Regional Design Manager
Experience: An industry applicable qualification ONC/HNC/degree or NVQ equivalent
Experience and understanding of water and sewage treatment processes would be beneficial but is not essential
Commercial and contractual awareness
Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
